About

2021 is the year when, more than ever, youth, education and culture required the support of the entire community. That year, the SLAMbert is born. A slam contest reserved for young people made it possible to support and mobilize this population, as well as to create a cultural momentum for the whole community.

We enjoyed the experience so much and we received such great slams that we decided to do it again in 2022!

This contest has no particular theme, except that you are invited to take your place with your words.

The finalists will be called upon to play in the final, where the winners will be chosen.. This event will take place in the fall of 2022

We're putting together the new edition so we can't reveal this year's grand prizes yet! We have some nice surprises coming for you!

This contest is the initiative of Agence Lumina, a social communications agency in Saint-Lambert, with the collaboration of various partners to be confirmed shortly!

F.A.Q.

What is the contest?

The second edition of the contest SLAMbert is aimed at 12 to 18 year olds. We would like to open this year to the whole Montérégie and we are waiting for confirmations before officially announcing it.

There are two categorieseither a for the 12 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years. Participations can be sent shortly. There will be the six finalists (three per category), of which two winners will be elected. The finalists will be revealed during a grand finale in the fall of 2022.

This special evening will allow the finalists to take the stage and present their slam, just like a slam session! They can invite their friends and family, it's free! The jury will name the best performances and the award ceremony will take place at the end of the evening.

This slam contest is open to all themes, as long as the texts are written respectfully.Vulgar language is not prohibited, but must be used in a justified way (to express anger for example).

Can I participate?

Registrations are not officially open. Follow our Facebook page so you don't miss anything from the launch!

You can also contact us at info@slambert.ca

Do I need experience?

No. There's a first time for everything!

Of course, the best texts will be selected by a jury. That being said, some people have a natural talent and this may be your case.

If you like words, if you want to say something through slam, try your luck.

You have nothing to lose!

Who will assess my application?

A jury will evaluate your slam according to a list of slam-specific criteria. This jury will be made up of people knowledgeable in slam.

Do I have to perform on stage?

The final will elect the winners of the competition. Slam is a performing art and we believe it will be best rendered if the person who wrote it produces it. It is true that it is embarrassing the first time, especially for a text that is sometimes very intimate.

But it's a great experience, and we don't perform at the Bell Center either!

If you have any concerns, write to us at info@slambert.cawe have some tips to offer you to help you prepare!

Is it that I can send a text in English?

Of course! We accept texts in French and in English.

I don't want to participate but I'd like to be involved, is this possible?

Absolutely! It is possible to be part of the jury, if you know a little slam.

We would like to ear you if you have any suggestions to share about the contest.

And you can even participate in the youth committee that we would like to set up for the next editions, in order to build a contest that suits you!
